Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has strongly denied accusations from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders claiming he neglected Punjab-related matters in Parliament. Chadha, in a public statement, labeled the allegations as false and politically driven, asserting his parliamentary record contradicts such assertions. He emphasized that his interventions are verifiable in official records, dismissing the claims as baseless and malicious.
Chadha refuted the specific accusation of not addressing pending funds for Punjab by pointing to his demand raised on July 31, 2024, which is documented in Sansad TV proceedings. He highlighted various issues he consistently raised in Parliament, including groundwater depletion, farmers’ distress, Minimum Support Price concerns, and agricultural costs. Additionally, he mentioned discussions on federalism, industrial revival, employment, infrastructure, and border security challenges in Punjab.
Addressing sensitive matters, Chadha mentioned his advocacy for the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor expansion and better pilgrimage access to Nankana Sahib. He emphasized the seriousness of his interventions, aiming for impact rather than theatrics or symbolic gestures. Chadha criticized what he called a coordinated misinformation campaign against him, expressing confidence in the truth prevailing and every lie being exposed.
The statement from Chadha comes amidst internal political tensions within AAP, as he defends his commitment to Punjab and its people through his parliamentary actions.
