Rahul Gandhi, speaking at a rally in Thrissur, criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, stating that no leader should claim sole capability to rule Kerala, emphasizing the presence of many capable leaders in the state. He raised concerns about the alleged understanding between the BJP and the Left Democratic Front in Kerala’s ongoing elections, positioning the United Democratic Front as the sole opposition force.
Gandhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the Sabarimala gold smuggling issue in Kerala, especially considering his frequent religious references in speeches. He further alleged a political understanding between the BJP and Left leadership, pointing out differential treatment by central agencies towards criticism of PM Modi and CM Vijayan.
Highlighting the proliferation of posters featuring CM Vijayan across Kerala, Gandhi criticized the centralization of governance around one individual, likening it to leadership styles of PM Modi and other top leaders. He stressed the importance of humility and inclusiveness in democratic leadership, warning against attempts to project supremacy that could undermine institutional balance and public dignity.
