Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, conveyed his wishes to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on CRPF Shaurya Diwas. He emphasized the need to address ongoing concerns within the forces and assured that a Congress-led government would tackle these issues. Gandhi highlighted the importance of fair promotions, leadership opportunities, and increased recognition for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel.
On the occasion of CRPF Valour Day, Gandhi paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of CRPF personnel. He commended their dedication in safeguarding the nation by confronting terrorism, Naxalism, and ensuring the peaceful conduct of democratic elections. CRPF Shaurya Diwas is observed annually on April 9 to honor the exceptional valor and sacrifices made by CRPF personnel, dating back to a significant event in 1965 at Sardar Post in Gujarat.
Gandhi stressed the significance of genuine homage beyond mere words. He pointed out the lack of timely promotions and leadership opportunities for CAPF personnel, noting that top positions are often reserved for individuals from outside the force. Recognizing the specialized training and expertise of CAPF personnel, Gandhi advocated for leadership roles to be filled by those who understand the challenges and requirements of the forces.
Addressing the longstanding issues related to pay, welfare, and respect, Gandhi highlighted the detrimental impact of institutional injustices on the morale of CAPF personnel. He underscored that the issue transcends professional growth, emphasizing the principles of justice and dignity. Gandhi reaffirmed the commitment of the Congress Party to rectify the existing discriminatory system and ensure that CAPF personnel receive their rightful entitlements upon assuming power.
