State-owned Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured the bid for a project granted by East Coast Railway. The project entails establishing a wagon periodical overhaul workshop in Kantabanji with a capacity for 200 wagons.
RVNL, the sole bidder for the project, disclosed that the total project cost, excluding goods and services tax, amounts to Rs 201.23 crore. The completion timeline for the project is set at 18 months.
In a recent development, RVNL also received a significant order from Southern Railway for a traction power project valued at Rs 145.35 crore. This project encompasses various components such as traction substations, power quality equipment, and a feeding system, among others.
The traction power project, aligned with Indian Railways’ Mission 3000 MT freight-loading objective, is slated for execution over 540 days in the Jolarpettai–Salem section. RVNL clarified that this order was secured from a domestic entity and does not involve any promoter-group interest in Southern Railway.
