Rain, hailstorms, and dust storms affected various parts of Rajasthan on Monday due to an active Western Disturbance. Kota saw heavy rainfall along with hailstorms in the afternoon. Additionally, rainfall occurred in Ajmer, Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Churu, and Nagaur districts. Jaisalmer experienced a dust storm, while cloud cover persisted in regions like Jaipur and Jodhpur.
The Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for four districts – Bundi, Kota, Alwar, and Bharatpur, and a yellow alert for 12 districts, including Jaipur, Dausa, Hanumangarh, Jhalawad, and Bhilwara. These alerts warn of thunderstorms, rainfall, strong winds, and possible dust storms in isolated areas. A cyclonic circulation system formed over western Rajasthan and nearby areas due to the Western Disturbance, leading to thunderstorms, dust storms, and light to moderate rainfall in Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota divisions.
The upcoming weather forecast predicts isolated light to moderate rainfall in parts of the Shekhawati region, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions on Tuesday. From April 1–2, the weather is expected to be mostly dry with chances of isolated drizzles or thunderstorms. However, from April 3–5, a new active Western Disturbance may bring another round of rain and storm activity across the state. Farmers are advised to take precautions to protect crops, harvest-ready crops, and stored grains from potential rain damage. The weather changes are likely to offer temporary relief from high temperatures but could also cause local disruptions. Officials urge residents to stay alert and follow official advisories during this period.
