In a significant ruling, the Rajasthan High Court’s Division Bench has upheld the cancellation of the Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment-2021. The decision, supported by the Single Bench’s earlier order, impacts numerous candidates. Acting Chief Justice S.P. Sharma led the Division Bench in delivering the verdict on Saturday.
The court also nullified the suo motu cognisance taken by the Single Bench against the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). It emphasized the need to prevent political appointments within the Commission and urged the State government to establish a new law for RPSC selections.
The controversy stems from August 28, 2025, when the Single Bench revoked the SI Recruitment-2021 due to paper leaks and rigging. Following this, the Division Bench temporarily halted the cancellation on September 8, 2025, leading to extended legal proceedings.
Petitioner Kailash Chand Sharma expressed satisfaction with the ruling, emphasizing the importance of transparency and confidentiality in examinations. The case had previously reached the Supreme Court, which ordered a status quo and stayed field postings of selected candidates. State minister Kirori Lal welcomed the High Court’s decision, citing evidence of irregularities in the examination process.
