In a significant development, the Crime Branch of the Rajasthan Police CID has apprehended a well-known criminal who had a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head and had been evading authorities for almost four years. Acting on the directives of Additional Director General of Police (Crime) Bipin Kumar Pandey, a specialized team carried out a risky interstate operation resulting in the capture of Mahesh Dilip Dahle, also known as ‘Chachaji’ or ‘Sardarji,’ in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra. Dahle is facing serious charges, including firing at a police team, attempted murder, and Arms Act violations.
A dedicated team, under the guidance of Inspector General of Police (Crime) Harendra Kumar Mahawar and led by Sub-Inspector Shailendra Kumar, was deployed in Jodhpur and Phalodi regions to gather intelligence. Head Constable Ravindra Singh received credible information during the operation, indicating Dahle’s presence in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra while concealing his identity. Following technical verification, a coordinated operation was launched across both states.
The police maintained constant surveillance, conducted thorough reconnaissance, and strategically set a trap to track Dahle’s movements. With the support of IG (Jodhpur Range) Satyendra Singh, a team from Phalodi District Police also participated in the operation. Upon reaching Tapovan Road in Ahilyanagar, the team identified a suspect matching the provided description. Despite attempting to escape upon sensing the police, Dahle was chased down on foot and apprehended by the officers, showcasing quick action and bravery.
Initially, Dahle tried to deceive the police but eventually confessed his true identity during interrogation. Hailing from Barwani district in Madhya Pradesh, Dahle’s case dates back to April 2022 when he was involved in a confrontation with the Phalodi police over illegal arms transportation. Despite his associates being arrested earlier, Dahle managed to flee and had been on the run since then. The operation leading to his arrest was conducted under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Shailendra Sharma, with several police personnel playing crucial roles in the field operations.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Shankar Dayal Sharma and Constable Brajesh Kumar Sharma provided technical assistance, while members from the Phalodi Police team significantly contributed to the arrest. The accused has been handed over to the Phalodi Police for further legal proceedings.
