Rajasthan Police have taken action against an organized cyber fraud network accused of embezzling funds from government welfare programs. Under “Operation Shutdown” by Jhalawar Police, 51 individuals have been arrested, and steps are being taken to seize properties suspected of being obtained unlawfully.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar mentioned that the suspects allegedly manipulated digital systems associated with government welfare schemes, such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi and disability pension schemes, by adding ineligible beneficiaries. The police investigation uncovered government officials’ SSO IDs, passwords, and sensitive data of farmers and beneficiaries from various states.
Legal actions are being pursued under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, against the syndicate members to attach properties believed to have been acquired through criminal means. Investigating Officer Prem Kumar revealed that several accused had purchased assets using funds obtained through fraudulent activities, leading to requests for the attachment of properties belonging to 33 individuals.
The assets identified for attachment include residential buildings, commercial establishments, agricultural land, vehicles, and industrial units. “Operation Shutdown,” initiated on October 22, 2025, involved coordinated raids in Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh, resulting in arrests and cash seizures. The operation also targeted individuals involved in website cloning, technical support, and financial operations related to the fraud.
Authorities from various departments collaborated in verifying property records and ownership details. Due to the case’s multi-state nature, the Director General of Police has transferred the investigation to the Rajasthan Special Operations Group for further scrutiny. The police continue to investigate to uncover more suspects and trace financial transactions associated with the alleged fraud.
