The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) has apprehended Sunil Bishnoi, a prime suspect evading capture for nearly two years with a Rs 10,000 reward on his head. Bishnoi’s arrest is linked to a recruitment exam fraud syndicate involving the use of “dummy candidates.”
Following the cancellation of the RPSC Senior Teacher Grade-II Competitive Examination on December 24, 2022, due to a General Knowledge paper leak, investigations uncovered that the legitimate candidate, Sampatlal Mali, did not participate in the exam. Instead, two imposters wrote the exam on his behalf.
Sunil Bishnoi allegedly impersonated the original candidate during the re-conducted exam on January 29, 2023, at Government Guru Gobind Singh Senior Secondary School, Udaipur, in the General Knowledge and Educational Psychology papers. The second dummy candidate, who took the Science paper, is currently at large, prompting ongoing search efforts.
Despite the fraudulent activity, Sampatlal Mali was provisionally selected for the Senior Teacher Grade-II (Science) position. However, his appointment was halted following a complaint lodged at the RPSC headquarters in Ajmer. Mali himself was arrested on January 13, 2023, in connection with the case.
The SOG has registered a case against Sunil Bishnoi under relevant sections of the IPC and the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2022. The investigation, spearheaded by Prakash Kumar Sharma, aims to uncover additional dummy candidates, middlemen, and accomplices involved in the broader recruitment fraud network.
