Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar expressed pride in his team’s consistent high-scoring performances, especially after their 18-run win against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. The team achieved their highest-ever total at the venue, with Phil Salt’s explosive 78 off 36 balls and Patidar’s quick 53 off 20 balls playing pivotal roles.
Patidar, who also holds the record for the fastest fifty by a captain in IPL history, emphasized his straightforward batting approach. He focuses on reacting to the ball and targeting specific bowlers, maintaining clarity about his shots and strategies throughout the game. The skipper credited the team’s strong batting foundation, with spinner Krunal Pandya praising the contributions of various players like Virat and Tim towards their victories.
Acknowledging the support staff’s role in enhancing the team’s batting prowess, Patidar highlighted the efforts of the coaching staff, particularly DK, in maximizing individual performances. He also commended the bowlers for their resilience under pressure, singling out Rasikh Salam’s impactful spell as a turning point in the match.
Krunal Pandya, in turn, lauded Rasikh’s determination and competitiveness in his first appearance of the season, despite facing physical challenges during the game. Looking ahead, Patidar expressed enthusiasm about returning to their home ground, Chinnaswamy Stadium, to continue their winning streak.
