Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is close to making history as he approaches the 200-wicket mark in the IPL. With 199 wickets in 191 matches, he is set to become the second player and the first fast bowler to achieve this milestone.
Yuzvendra Chahal is the only other player to have surpassed 200 wickets in the IPL, with 224 wickets in 176 matches. Bhuvneshwar’s journey saw him initially signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009, followed by stints with Pune Warriors and Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he became a key player in their bowling lineup.
Having excelled in the early seasons and winning the purple cap twice, Bhuvneshwar’s return to RCB in 2025 proved fruitful with 17 wickets in 14 games. His impactful bowling, especially in the death overs, played a crucial role in RCB’s success in the previous season.
Despite the absence of Hazlewood in the initial matches, Bhuvneshwar remains a vital asset for RCB, showcasing his skill by conceding only 31 runs in the season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
