A significant relief measure has been sanctioned for tribal families impacted by the Sardar Sarovar Project in Madhya Pradesh. More than 25,000 displaced families will receive free registration of residential land titles, facilitating their journey towards land ownership and stability. The exemption on registration fees is part of the state’s efforts to address the challenges faced by families, particularly those from tribal backgrounds, due to the project.
The Sardar Sarovar Project, spanning Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, has posed complex rehabilitation issues over the years, leading to the displacement of numerous families. Madhya Pradesh, which hosts a substantial number of affected households, has been actively working on resettlement packages, including land allotment. The recent decision to waive registration fees aims to provide administrative relief and secure property rights for the affected families.
The state government, in a recent cabinet meeting, approved two irrigation projects to enhance agricultural coverage.
