Senior leaders of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in Bihar protested against the state government regarding the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna. They urged for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the incident. The RJD delegation, led by former MLA Sanjeev Kumar, met with the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma to express their concerns.
The RJD leaders accused the Bihar administration of neglecting the safety of women in the state and criticized the handling of the case. Sanjeev Kumar, addressing the media, expressed lack of confidence in the local police’s investigation, alleging bias and a cover-up attempt. He emphasized the necessity of a CBI probe for ensuring justice in the case.
Questioning the police’s initial assessment that the student died from food poisoning, RJD leader Sanjeev Kumar criticized the premature conclusion before the post-mortem report was available. He raised suspicions of a deliberate attempt to protect influential figures, suggesting a conspiracy. MLA Sanjeev Kumar also highlighted concerns about the oversight of private girls’ hostels in Patna, advocating for stricter regulations and police-monitored CCTV surveillance.
The RJD leaders stressed that the issue transcends the individual student’s death, emphasizing the broader implications for justice and dignity of underprivileged families in Bihar. Sanjeev Kumar pointed out the economic vulnerability of the victim’s family contrasted with the influence of the accused, alleging biased treatment by the police. He warned of a potential statewide protest by the RJD if swift action is not taken against the culprits and if the case is not transferred to the CBI.
