Sahith Theegala improved his position at the American Express tournament by shooting a 5-under 67 on the third day, moving into the Top-25. Currently at 14-under par, he is tied for 24th place after rounds of 71-64-68, a significant improvement from his initial position of tied 118th.
Leading the tournament is Korea’s Si Woo Kim, who shot a 6-under 66 to reach 22-under 194, holding a one-shot lead over Scottie Scheffler and Blades Brown, who are tied for second place.
Brown finished strongly with three consecutive birdies, while Scheffler faced challenging conditions but managed a 68 with two bogeys.
Theegala, who had two eagles in the second round, added another eagle in the third round. Starting well with birdies, he had a solid round with a mix of birdies and bogeys, finishing with a 67.
Other Indian-origin players had mixed results, with Akshay Bhatia struggling and missing the cut after a tough round of 78, while Sudarshan Yellamaraju finished just outside the cut line despite a round of 68.
Kim, Scheffler, and Brown will be in the final group for the closing round on Sunday at the challenging Stadium Course, with the tournament set for a closely contested finish.
