Actor Salman Khan recently lauded veteran star Kabir Bedi, hailing him as the “original Tiger of India” while reflecting on the iconic 1976 TV series Sandokan. Salman took to Instagram to commend Kabir Bedi for his groundbreaking role nearly fifty years ago as the first Indian actor to lead an international TV show with “Sandokan.” He extended best wishes to Turkish actor Can Yaman, who will be taking on the role in the upcoming adaptation, acknowledging the significant task ahead of him.
Salman expressed his admiration for Kabir Bedi’s strength and emotional depth, hoping that Can Yaman would embody similar qualities in the new version of “Sandokan.” The 1976 Italian TV series, directed by Sergio Sollima, is based on the novels of Emilio Salgari and features the pirate hero Sandokan. Kabir Bedi reprised his role as Sandokan in both a 1977 spin-off film and a 1996 sequel series titled The Return of Sandokan.
Salman Khan’s next project, ‘Battle of Galwan,’ revolves around the Galwan clash between India and China on June 15, 2020, during the initial wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, is scheduled for release on April 17, shedding light on the violent confrontation in the Galwan Valley, eastern Ladakh, which resulted in casualties on both sides, marking the deadliest India-China face-off in over forty years.
