Indian American telecom pioneer Sam Pitroda recently unveiled the autobiography of Javad K. Hassan, a distinguished tech innovator, at an event in Washington, DC. The book, titled “The Art of The Possible: A Maverick’s Journey to Success, Innovation, and Fearless Leadership,” narrates Hassan’s inspiring journey from his early days in Kerala, India, as a graduate student, to becoming a global business leader. In his memoir, Hassan reflects on his career, emphasizing his relentless pursuit of innovation, unconventional leadership style, and the courage to challenge norms in some of the world’s leading technology companies.

Hassan, who previously held senior positions at IBM and served as the president of Global Interconnect Systems at AMP Inc. (now TE Connectivity), is currently the chairman of the McLean, VA-based NeST Group. His journey in the United States began in 1966 when he arrived to pursue a master’s degree in material engineering at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Following his education, Hassan started as a young engineer at IBM’s East Fishkill campus in New York, where he spent 25 years ascending the corporate ladder before joining AMP in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. At AMP, Hassan’s visionary approach and leadership fueled significant innovations and strategic mergers, altering the company’s course.

After his tenure at AMP, Hassan ventured into entrepreneurship by founding the NeST Group, a Kochi, Kerala-based conglomerate. Through his leadership, he acquired over a dozen companies, making impactful strides in various industries including fiber optics, software, healthcare IT, and digital media. Hassan’s autobiography offers valuable insights into his philosophy of success, innovation, and the fearless leadership that defined his illustrious career.
