Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy smartphone is anticipated to undergo its first price hike since 2023, as per industry experts. The tech giant is set to unveil the Galaxy S26 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in San Francisco on Feb. 25. Samsung has maintained the prices of its main Galaxy models steady since 2023, but due to increased memory costs, a price adjustment for the Galaxy S26 series seems likely.
Roh Tae-moon, co-CEO of Samsung Electronics, suggested in a meeting with reporters that the escalating memory chip prices might impact the pricing of Samsung products. Industry sources indicate that the 256-gigabyte model of the Galaxy S26 could see a price increase of up to 99,000 won from its previous price. The demand for stronger chip performance for AI devices is cited as a key factor necessitating the price adjustment.
The new Galaxy smartphone, expected to be the Galaxy S26, is projected to feature a built-in privacy function that allows users to safeguard on-screen information without the need for an additional film. Samsung is expected to finalize the pricing after considering consumer preferences and competitor pricing strategies. The company has emphasized that the new Galaxy S series aims to simplify daily interactions, instill confidence, and seamlessly integrate Galaxy AI into users’ lives.
