SC Freiburg seized control of their UEFA Europa League quarterfinal against Celta Vigo with a convincing 3-0 victory in the first leg at home. In their debut European quarterfinal appearance, Freiburg started strong by taking the lead after just 10 minutes through Vincenzo Grifo’s deflected shot.
The German side continued their dominance, maintaining pressure on Celta Vigo and scoring a second goal in the 32nd minute courtesy of Niklas Beste. Despite hitting the post through Johan Manzambi, Freiburg held a 2-0 lead at halftime.
