Security forces in Manipur conducted multiple operations resulting in the arrest of three militants from different insurgent groups and the dismantling of four illegally constructed bunkers. In one operation, a militant linked to the People’s Liberation Army and Revolutionary People’s Front was apprehended in Assam. Identified as Hodam Romen Singh alias Naobi, the militant was involved in extortion activities and is a co-accused in a police case.
In a separate operation, two individuals associated with the Kangleipak Communist Party were arrested in Thoubal district. The militants, Elangbam Surjit Singh and Maibam Ronaldo, were found with a service pistol and ammunition. Additionally, security forces destroyed four bunkers in Ukhrul district and recovered thirty-five empty cases.
Further operations led to the seizure of arms and ammunition in Kangpokpi district, including country-made bolt action single barrels, pump guns, hand grenades, live rounds, empty cases of various calibers, and radio sets. Security forces are actively conducting search operations and area domination exercises to curb militant activities across multiple districts.
To enhance surveillance and deter unlawful movements, 114 checkpoints have been established in both valley and hill districts of Manipur. Security forces are also providing escort services for vehicles, especially along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway, with stringent security measures in place to ensure safe traffic flow. Manipur Police have cautioned the public against believing and sharing unverified information on social media, emphasizing the importance of verifying content with the Central Control Room.
