Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district achieved a significant breakthrough by eliminating four Maoist cadres, one of whom was a female cadre, during a series of encounters in the north-western forested and hilly terrain. The operation, targeting Maoist leader Dilip Bedja and his armed cadres, was conducted jointly by the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA), and Special Task Force (STF).

The operation, which began in the morning, witnessed intermittent exchanges of fire between the Maoists and security forces in challenging geographical conditions. Despite the difficult terrain, the forces pressed forward cautiously and recovered the bodies of two Maoist cadres by noon. Later in the day, two more Maoists, including a female cadre, were killed in another clash, with one of the deceased identified as Dilip Bedja, a prominent Maoist leader.

Security forces seized a significant cache of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, a .303 rifle, and grenades, highlighting the Maoists’ intent to use heavy firepower. Intensive search operations are ongoing in the surrounding forests and hills to prevent any armed cadres from escaping, with the forces on high alert to dismantle Maoist networks and restore peace in the region.
