Seychelles President Patrick Herminie is set to embark on a State Visit to India starting Thursday at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This visit marks Herminie’s first trip to India since assuming office in October last year and will last for five days until February 10.
During his stay, President Herminie will engage with President Droupadi Murmu and hold discussions with PM Modi on various bilateral, regional, and international matters of common interest. This visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Following his time in India, Patrick Herminie will proceed to Chennai and Mumbai, where he is scheduled to participate in business-related events. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that this visit is expected to bolster the extensive cooperation between India and Seychelles.
President Herminie’s visit holds significance as Seychelles is a crucial maritime neighbor for India in the Indian Ocean region, aligning with India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and its commitment to the Global South. The visit aims to strengthen the existing cooperation and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
