The Indian Business and Professional Council, linked with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), recently held a significant business meeting to explore ways to strengthen collaboration and boost trade and investments between Sharjah and India.
The discussions revolved around enhancing coordination between the business communities of both regions and identifying investment opportunities across various economic sectors.
Held during the Ramadan suhoor banquet at Sharjah’s Jazerat-al-alam, the meeting saw the presence of key figures such as Dr. Khaled Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City (Shams), Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Adel Al Ali, Group CEO of Air Arabia, and Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI.
Also in attendance were Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Jamal Saeed Buzangal, Director of the Media Department at SCCI, Lalu Samuel, Chairman of the Indian Business and Professional Council, along with council members, business representatives, and heads of major Indian companies operating in Sharjah.
The meeting emphasized the supportive environment and investment opportunities available for Indian companies in Sharjah, particularly in sectors like energy, maritime industries, shipping services, and commerce. It also highlighted prospects in food industries, tourism, real estate, and contracting.
Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi stressed the importance of such gatherings in strengthening ties between Sharjah and Indian business communities, aligning with broader efforts to enhance economic cooperation.
Lalu Samuel highlighted the meeting’s aim to foster relations between Indian companies in Sharjah and local entities, aiming for sustainable collaboration and economic growth.
Currently, around 17,500 Indian companies operate in Sharjah, according to SCCI members, and the Indian Business and Professional Council was inaugurated by the Sharjah Chamber in February 2023.
