Shillong Member of Parliament Ricky A.J. Syngkon from the Voice of the People Party (VPP) tragically passed away on Thursday evening. Syngkon suddenly fell ill while playing football, leading to shock and sorrow across Meghalaya’s political landscape.
Syngkon was playing football with friends at a playground in Mawlai Mawiong when he collapsed during the match. Concerned friends rushed him to the Mawiong Community Health Centre for urgent medical care.
Due to the unavailability of a doctor at the center, Syngkon was referred to Dr H. Gordon Roberts Hospital in Jaiaw for advanced treatment. Despite medical efforts, he passed away shortly after admission, with his death confirmed at around 8:42 p.m.
