As Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray raised concerns about the State Election Commission’s use of removable ink, Shiv Sena defended the process, stating there were no problems with the ink. The party highlighted that similar false claims were made during the Lok Sabha elections.
Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande reiterated that the ink was visible and not removable, dismissing the allegations raised. Another party member, Shaina NC, emphasized that blaming the Election Commission, EVMs, or ink misuse was unfounded. Uddhav Thackeray had criticized the SEC during the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, questioning the integrity of the voting process.
The ongoing Maharashtra Municipal Corporation election counting process is taking place under high security in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, and other cities. Initial trends from postal ballots and EVM counting are emerging, with final results expected late due to the large number of candidates.
The SEC reported a significant voter turnout, indicating potential for change or strong polarization. The elections covered various cities with a total of 15,931 candidates vying for 2,801 seats. Notably, 68 candidates were elected unopposed, reducing the contested seats.
