Shriram Mhasane from Nashik clinched the championship at the All India Chess Masters (Season 3) held at the Mumbai Chess Centre on Pedder Road. With 6.5 points, Mhasane led into the final round and maintained his composure to secure the title in a closely contested finish.
The tournament’s final round saw intense drama with multiple players vying for top positions. Despite a draw with Nikhiil Shelar, Mhasane’s performance was enough to claim victory. Other players like Mohsin Yunus Shaikh, Palaash Mapara, and Rajveer Nahar also delivered strong performances in the battle for podium places.
Mhasane’s standout performance in Round 7 proved pivotal in his journey to becoming the champion. The event highlighted India’s premier FIDE classical events, showcasing top talent and competitive play.
Tournament Director Durga Nagesh Guttula expressed satisfaction with the event, noting the strong participation and emerging talent showcased throughout.
