Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang led a high-level meeting at Samman Bhawan to oversee arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit later this month. The visit is anticipated to coincide with the conclusion of Sikkim’s 50th Statehood Anniversary, commemorating its integration into the Indian Union fifty years ago.
The meeting extensively evaluated preparedness in crucial sectors such as security, logistics, infrastructure, and program coordination. Emphasizing seamless inter-departmental coordination, the Chief Minister instructed all departments to ensure prompt fulfillment of duties. Discussions centered on the Prime Minister’s proposed itinerary, focusing on venues, movement plans, and contingency measures.
Officials were directed to closely collaborate with central agencies to ensure compliance with protocol and security standards. Project reviews expected to be inaugurated or have foundation stones laid during the visit were also scrutinized. The importance of project readiness within the specified timeline was underscored by the Chief Minister.
Senior officials stressed the necessity of robust infrastructure readiness, encompassing road connectivity, venue arrangements, and public facilities. Crowd management and emergency response mechanisms received special attention to guarantee a smooth and secure event. The review meeting was attended by Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, senior administrative officials, and Heads of various Departments.
Highlighting the event’s significance, Tamang described the visit as a pivotal moment in the state’s history, urging all stakeholders to collaborate effectively for the program’s success. Subsequent review meetings are scheduled to track progress and address any emerging issues.
