Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has commenced production of the updated Volkswagen Taigun at its Pune plant. The new Taigun boasts a refreshed design and improved premium features, specifically designed for Indian driving conditions while maintaining European driving dynamics, comfort, and safety standards.
Managing Director and CEO of the company, Piyush Arora, highlighted the significance of this production milestone, emphasizing the maturity of their manufacturing ecosystem in India. The company’s facilities in India are equipped to manufacture globally competitive vehicles with high localization, serving both domestic and international markets effectively.
Nitin Kohli, Brand Director at Volkswagen India, expressed the strategic importance of the Taigun in the company’s SUV lineup, noting its pivotal role in enhancing their product portfolio. The production of the new Taigun at the Chakan facility underscores the company’s ongoing dedication to meeting the needs of Indian consumers.
Since its launch in 2021, the Taigun has gained traction in the market due to its focus on performance, comfort, and safety. With over 1.43 lakh units manufactured in India, of which nearly 30% have been exported globally, the Taigun has made a significant impact in the automotive sector.
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India oversees the operations of six Volkswagen Group brands in India, including Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Bentley. With a 25-year presence in the country, the company operates two manufacturing plants with a combined annual capacity of 3.15 lakh units, demonstrating its commitment to the Indian market.
