South Africa has named Tebogo Macheke in the 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against India, with Eliz Mari Marx making a return. The series, scheduled from April 17 to 27, serves as the Proteas’ final preparation before the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
Macheke replaces Karabo Meso, who is sidelined due to a wrist injury, while Eliz-Mari comes in for seamer Masabata Klaas. The squad, led by Laura Wolvaardt, sees continuity from their recent New Zealand tour, with Anneke Bosch retaining her spot.
Proteas Women Convenor of Selectors, Clinton du Preez, highlighted the importance of maintaining a core group of players for cohesive preparations towards the T20 World Cup. Marizanne Kapp remains unavailable due to illness, as the team gears up for the series against India.
Head coach Mandla Mashimbyi expressed excitement about the upcoming series and welcomed the inclusion of Eliz-Mari and Tebogo in the squad. The South Africa squad includes players like Laura Wolvaardt, Suné Luus, and Chloe Tryon for the series against India.
