The Sports Authority of India (SAI) is seeking eligible Indian citizens to fill 323 assistant coach positions across 26 disciplines. Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse highlighted the unique coaching ecosystem at SAI, emphasizing the institution’s support for coaches’ growth and development. Assistant coaches will be stationed at various regional centers, National Centers of Excellence (NCOE), or training facilities nationwide.
The assistant coach roles span a wide range of disciplines, including Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Boxing, and more. Applicants must adhere to the Government of India’s reservation policies, including a 33% horizontal reservation for women in each discipline. Eligible candidates must be under 30 years old and possess a diploma or equivalent coaching certification from recognized institutions like SAI NSNIS, Patiala. Alternatively, individuals with relevant coaching certificates from prestigious sporting events are also eligible.
Selection for the assistant coach positions will involve a two-stage process: an online computer-based written test followed by a Coaching Ability Test (CAT). Successful candidates will enter the Coaches Cadre at the entry-level Group ‘B’ role, with opportunities for promotion to higher grades based on SAI recruitment guidelines. Seniority will be determined on a national level, and postings can be made anywhere in India.
