Sri Lanka fast bowler Nuwan Thushara has taken legal action in the Colombo District Court as Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) refused to grant him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for playing in the Indian Premier League 2026. The court set the next hearing for April 9. Thushara’s petition names SLC officials as defendants.
Thushara, who had a contract with Royal Challengers Bengaluru for IPL 2026, alleges that SLC denied him the NOC due to fitness reasons, despite his prior approvals. He argues that his fitness levels have not changed and contests SLC’s decision based on inconsistency.
The bowler emphasizes the financial and professional impact of SLC’s decision, fearing replacement by the franchise and loss of earnings. Thushara seeks legal affirmation of his right to the NOC and asks the court to direct SLC to permit his IPL and international league participation.
