Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced compensation of Rs 6 lakh for each victim’s family, sourced from the Disaster Relief Fund and Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Bihar Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary assured proper medical care for all injured persons at the government’s expense. Relief and rescue operations were promptly initiated, with officials directed to provide necessary assistance.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the incident, extending condolences to the affected families and ensuring government support. The stampede occurred at Sheetla Mata Temple during Sheetlashtami, resulting in casualties and injuries. Eyewitnesses cited overcrowding and lack of space as factors contributing to the tragedy.
Rescue teams and local authorities responded swiftly, transferring the injured to hospitals for treatment. Ongoing relief efforts are in progress, with a focus on investigating the incident’s cause and evaluating crowd management protocols.
