The 77th Republic Day celebrations in Gujarat will occur on January 26 in the newly established Vav–Tharad district. Governor Acharya Devvrat will hoist the national flag and lead the parade in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at 9 a.m. at the helipad ground in Malupur. The event will feature cultural programs and police demonstrations to commemorate the occasion.
This state-level celebration continues the tradition started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister. The aim is to decentralize and enhance public involvement by celebrating national festivals at the state level in various districts. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi will also unfurl the flag at Makarba in Ahmedabad as part of the Republic Day festivities across Gujarat.
Various state Cabinet members will oversee flag-hoisting ceremonies at different taluka headquarters in their respective districts. The schedule released by the General Administration Department outlines the ministers who will unfurl the flag at specific locations across the state. With celebrations planned in multiple districts and talukas, Gujarat’s 77th Republic Day will highlight unity in diversity, decentralized governance, and active public participation.
