Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Ishan Kishan acknowledged his team’s failure in execution despite a competitive total, leading to a six-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2026 match at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. Chasing 220, Punjab Kings, powered by Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, and skipper Shreyas Iyer, successfully completed the chase in 18.5 overs.
Kishan expressed regret over missing out on a higher total, citing execution issues in T20 cricket as crucial. SRH started strongly with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, crossing the 100-run mark in the powerplay. Despite posting 219, SRH struggled as PBKS controlled the chase effectively.
The SRH skipper believed they had enough runs but failed to counter PBKS’s approach. Punjab Kings capitalized on loose bowling, maintaining momentum and comfortably finishing the chase. Kishan highlighted the bowlers’ struggle in reading the opposition’s approach, emphasizing the need for better understanding and execution.
SRH, with three losses in four games, will face Rajasthan Royals (RR) next at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 13.
