Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Ishan Kishan praised the fighting partnership between Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy for giving the team a chance in the match against Lucknow Super Giants. Despite a narrow defeat in the last-over thriller, Kishan highlighted the team’s resilience after recovering from an early batting collapse.
Reflecting on the match, Kishan commended his bowlers and fielders for pushing the game to the final over while defending a modest total. He acknowledged the efforts of the players but noted that a couple of boundaries could change the outcome in such tournaments.
Earlier, Hyderabad recovered from a shaky start with the bat, thanks to Klaasen and Reddy’s remarkable rescue act, posting 156/9 after a century stand. Kishan emphasized the importance of their partnership in reviving the innings after an early collapse, acknowledging the pressure it put on the middle order.
Despite the competitive total, Kishan admitted the team’s need for improvement in batting, especially in setting imposing totals. During Lucknow’s chase, Hyderabad briefly regained control with disciplined bowling, aiming to restrict singles, but Rishabh Pant’s calm approach made the difference, according to Kishan.
Shuffling bowling options late in the innings, Hyderabad aimed for breakthroughs based on instinct, as Kishan explained. However, a crucial burst of boundaries in the 17th over shifted the momentum decisively in Lucknow’s favor, highlighting the fine margins in the game. Despite the defeat, Kishan praised pacer Harshal Patel for his impressive bowling effort during the tense closing stages.
