Sunrisers Hyderabad secured their first victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs at the Eden Gardens. Left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat’s impressive bowling figures of 3-21 played a crucial role in SRH’s dominant performance.
After posting a challenging total of 226/8, the highest in the tournament so far, Sunrisers Hyderabad bowled out Kolkata Knight Riders for 161 in 16 overs. Unadkat, supported by Eshan Malinga, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Harsh Dubey, led a disciplined bowling attack that kept KKR under pressure throughout the innings.
This victory not only earned SRH their first two points of the season but also marked the first successful defense of a total in this year’s IPL. Despite a strong start by KKR’s Finn Allen, who scored 28 off seven balls, SRH’s bowlers, especially Unadkat, controlled the game and restricted KKR from chasing down the target.
Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi provided some resistance for KKR, but Unadkat’s crucial wickets and disciplined bowling by SRH’s pacers turned the game in their favor. Raghuvanshi’s fifty and a brief counterattack by Sunil Narine were not enough as SRH emerged victorious with a comprehensive performance.
