The Surfing Federation of India has revealed that the Little Andaman Pro 2026 – National Surf & SUP Championship will kick off India’s 2026 surfing season from April 9–12, 2026. This event marks the beginning of an exciting season for Indian surfing just before India’s participation in the Asian Games 2026 in Japan. India’s top surfers and stand-up paddlers will compete at Butler Bay Beach in the Andaman Islands during this four-day surfing extravaganza.
Presented by Andaman and Nicobar Tourism and organized by the Surfing Federation of India, the event will bring together top surfers from across the country to compete in the Senior Division across Surfing and Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) disciplines. The event holds particular significance as India secured its first-ever Asian Games quota at the 2024 Asian Surfing Championships and continued its success in 2025, earning four slots for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
“This is a landmark moment for Indian surfing,” stated Arun Vasu, President of the Surfing Federation of India, emphasizing the importance of starting the national season at Little Andaman to promote the sport across India’s coastline. The event at Butler Bay, known for its exceptional surf conditions, will provide Indian surfers with valuable experience in reef breaks, enhancing their skills for international competitions.
The championship not only focuses on competition but also aims to showcase the potential of the Andaman Islands as a surfing destination in India. Little Andaman’s pristine waters and consistent waves are attracting attention from surfers and adventure enthusiasts, contributing to the region’s development through sports. Indian surfers have been making strides internationally, with the national team achieving notable successes at the Asian Surfing Championships.
The Surfing Federation of India has announced an expanded 2026 competition calendar for Surf and Stand-Up Paddle (SUP), featuring various events across the country. The upcoming year will witness the introduction of the Longboarding Division in the national circuit, providing opportunities for athletes specializing in classic surfing styles. The Little Andaman Pro 2026 aims to not only celebrate surfing but also promote responsible tourism and environmental awareness in alignment with the region’s conservation efforts.
