A suspicious drone was sighted near West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s helicopter in Malatipur, Malda district, during a campaign rally for the upcoming Assembly polls. Banerjee herself noticed the drone as she was boarding the chopper after addressing the rally. She promptly instructed the police officers present to investigate the drone’s source.
The Chief Minister, who had three public meetings scheduled in Malda that day, encountered the drone after her second meeting in Malatipur. Observing the drone near the helipad where her chopper was stationed, Banerjee urged the police to monitor the situation closely. The incident occurred as she was departing for her next destination, Gazole.
During the campaign rally in Malatipur, Banerjee indirectly referred to the Congress candidate from Malatipur, Mausam Benazir Noor, as a traitor without explicitly naming her. Banerjee highlighted that Noor had switched parties just before the elections and emphasized the consequences of such actions on public trust and loyalty.
