Music composer, singer, lyricist, and actor Swanand Kirkire is embarking on his first show creator role with Bandwaale. Sharing his experience, Swanand expressed that bringing his initial series to life, where he also stars, has been a thrilling journey. He mentioned, “For a long time, stories have resonated within me, some through music, some through characters, and some quietly in my mind.”
Bandwaale is a culmination of these stories finally taking shape to evolve over time. The National Award-winning artist emphasized the unique responsibility of shaping an entire world while simultaneously being a part of it as a character. Swanand Kirkire acknowledged the learning process, deep collaboration, and the importance of letting the narrative lead. He described this endeavor as a natural progression in his creative expedition, expressing gratitude to Prime Video for supporting a story close to his heart.
The series, set to be available on Prime Video, is a collaborative effort between Swanand Kirkire and Ankur Tewari, marking a significant milestone in Kirkire’s storytelling career. Swanand Kirkire has been honored with the National Film Award for Best Lyrics twice, first in 2006 for “Bande Me Tha Dum…Vande Mataram” from Lage Raho Munna Bhai, and then in 2009 for “Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh” from 3 Idiots. Additionally, he clinched the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2018 for the Marathi film Chumbak. His cameo appearances in Panchayat 3 as Sansad ji and in Qala as Mansoor Khan Sahab, where he also contributed as a lyricist and singer, showcase his versatile talent.
