Shooter Swapnil Kusale made history by securing India’s first medal in the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Kusale clinched a bronze with a score of 451.4, finishing behind China’s Yukun Liu and Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish, who took gold and silver respectively.

Kusale’s remarkable performance at the National Shooting Center in Châteauroux saw him overcome a slow start in the kneeling position to excel in the prone and standing positions. His final score of 451.4 not only earned him the bronze but also marked a historic achievement for Indian shooting.

The 3P event requires shooters to perform in kneeling, prone, and standing positions. Kusale’s strong showing in the latter stages helped him secure third place. This achievement is India’s third shooting medal at the Paris Games and highlights Kusale’s skill and dedication.

Kusale’s medal follows two bronzes won by Manu Bhaker in the women’s 10m air pistol and the 10m pistol mixed team events. This success reflects the growing strength of Indian shooting on the international stage.
