Tamenglong district in Manipur is striving to establish itself as a significant honey producer in the state. Over 100 farmers in the district are undergoing training and receiving essential support under the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY). This initiative is part of a larger effort to enhance honey production in Tamenglong and boost the agricultural sector.
As one of the 100 districts chosen nationwide for the PMDDKY program, Tamenglong is focusing on scientific beekeeping and breeding techniques. The training sessions aim to educate farmers on improving bee health, productivity, and sustainability. The district administration, in collaboration with Buzzworthy Venture Pvt. Ltd Ambarnath, is actively involved in implementing this program.
Under the CSR initiative, Tamenglong has been allocated funds to support honey rearing for 100 farmers. The district has received 500 beehive boxes, and training has commenced to achieve a monthly honey production target of 1000 liters. Additionally, selected farmers will be provided with beekeeping equipment worth Rs 8000, including beehives, to facilitate modern beekeeping practices.
Vaibhav Trimukhe, Chief Operating Officer, highlighted that the shift to scientific beekeeping will enable farmers to increase production and income. Tamenglong’s selection as an aspirational district under the PMDDKY program underscores its commitment to agricultural development and sustainability.
