With the Tamil Nadu Assembly election approaching on April 23, political parties in the state are intensifying their campaigns. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by AIADMK and BJP, is confident of winning over 200 seats in the 234-member State Assembly, according to BJP Spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad. The NDA in Tamil Nadu includes AIADMK, BJP, PMK, AMMK, Tamil Maanila Congress, and other regional partners, contesting against the ruling DMK-Congress alliance.
Campaigning has gained momentum post the nomination process and candidate finalization. The BJP spokesperson highlighted growing public discontent against the current DMK government led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. He criticized the governance under the DMK, citing corruption, administrative inefficiency, and what he termed as “family-centric governance.”
The electoral battle is primarily seen as a face-off between the NDA and the DMK-led alliance, with smaller parties like TVK and NTK also in the mix. BJP’s focus is on consolidating anti-incumbency votes behind the NDA to challenge the ruling DMK front. The NDA is campaigning on promises of governance reform, development, and transparency, positioning itself as a viable alternative to the current administration.
