Demanding Rs 30,000 per acre for farmers affected by Cyclone Ditwah, Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran criticized the ruling DMK government for delays in providing relief to distressed farmers in the delta region. Nainar highlighted that farmers faced significant crop losses due to the cyclone but had not yet received any compensation from the state.
He expressed concern over the financial hardship faced by farmers due to the delayed relief measures, emphasizing the government’s lack of support for the agrarian community. Nainar blamed the destruction of harvested paddy on inadequate infrastructure at government storage facilities and the state’s failure to ensure timely procurement.
The BJP leader criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for not directly engaging with affected farmers and instead opting for symbolic gestures like reviewing crop samples. Nainar urged the government to announce a compensation package that aligns with the losses suffered by farmers without further delay.
