The Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reinstated its state spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad following his formal apology for suggesting actor-politician Vijay join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) before the state’s upcoming Assembly elections.
Prasad’s comments, proposing Vijay’s alliance with the NDA to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s interests and hinting at a potential seat allocation, caused discomfort within the party for being speculative and not in line with official alliance negotiations.
In response to the controversy, the Tamil Nadu BJP leadership took disciplinary action, relieving Prasad of his spokesperson duties to maintain message discipline and clarity amidst evolving political alignments.
After issuing a written apology expressing regret for his remarks, Prasad assured adherence to party communication protocols in the future and reaffirmed his dedication to the party’s goals and leadership.
Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagenthran announced the withdrawal of disciplinary measures against Prasad, emphasizing the importance of cautious public statements and effective contribution to the party’s election campaign.
