Tamil Nadu BJP has called on voters in Puducherry to give a clear mandate to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as polling begins for all 30 Assembly constituencies in the Union Territory. The party spokesperson emphasized the opportunity to strengthen the “double engine government,” a collaboration between the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Territory government under Chief Minister N. Rangasamy.
Highlighting the positive outcomes of this alignment, the spokesperson mentioned development projects worth over Rs 2,700 crore that have been initiated or finished recently. Additionally, recruitment drives have addressed vacancies in crucial sectors like healthcare, education, and law enforcement, while welfare schemes have been expanded.
The spokesperson noted that Puducherry now provides some of the highest old-age pensions in the nation and offers monthly financial aid to women heading households. The BJP leader asserted a significant decrease in unemployment rates and improvements in the public distribution system under the current administration.
Criticizing the previous Congress-DMK government, the BJP representative accused them of corruption, administrative deficiencies, and policy lapses that hindered progress and eroded public confidence. Looking forward, the NDA leadership, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has outlined plans to elevate Puducherry into a prominent IT and investment center.
Proposals such as establishing an IT corridor and expanding high-tech industries aim to generate job opportunities and curb youth migration. As voting progresses in the union territory, key issues such as governance, welfare delivery, employment, and leadership remain pivotal in the electoral discourse. The outcome on May 4 will determine the future political course for Puducherry.
