Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin criticized Governor R.N. Ravi for walking out of the Assembly without reading the customary address, calling his behavior “unbecoming” of the office. Stalin moved a resolution condemning the Governor’s actions, citing violations of constitutional norms and legislative rules.

Stalin highlighted that the Governor’s Address, as per Article 176 of the Constitution, should be read in full without alterations. He emphasized that the Governor lacks the authority to express personal opinions or omit parts of the address prepared by the government.

The Chief Minister expressed disappointment over the Governor’s repeated disregard for Assembly traditions and accused him of disrespecting the legislative body. Stalin quoted late leader C.N. Annadurai and emphasized the need for Governors to cooperate with elected governments and act in the state’s best interests.

The Assembly unanimously passed a resolution rejecting the Governor’s walkout and decided to consider the uploaded English version of the speech as read and recorded. Stalin announced plans to seek a constitutional amendment to eliminate the practice of the Governor’s Address with the support of like-minded parties across India.
