The Cyber Crime Wing of the Tamil Nadu Police has launched a thorough investigation into the alleged leak of scenes from the highly anticipated Tamil film ‘Jana Nayagan’, starring actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President Vijay. The film’s production team filed a formal complaint, expressing serious concerns about digital piracy just before the movie’s release. R. Udayakumar, Production Controller of KVN Productions, lodged the complaint, seeking urgent police action against the unauthorized distribution of unreleased footage.
The complaint accuses certain individuals of illegally accessing, downloading, copying, and sharing scenes online, which has caused significant harm to the project. It identifies 21 individuals allegedly involved in the piracy network. The production house stressed the substantial financial and creative investments in the film, including high production expenses, contractual commitments, and the hard work of the cast and crew.
‘Jana Nayagan’ is a highly anticipated Tamil release this year with a star-studded cast that includes veteran actor Prakash Raj alongside Vijay, creating a buzz among audiences. Industry experts highlight the film’s large scale and expected box office success, making it a prime target for piracy threats. Udayakumar’s complaint urges the police to take immediate measures to prevent further dissemination of the leaked content and to secure crucial digital evidence for the investigation.
Authorities have been asked to block the footage on social media platforms and digital channels while preserving electronic devices like mobile phones, laptops, and storage media allegedly used in the offense. Efforts are also underway to trace the complete distribution chain, identifying all individuals involved in the unauthorized sharing of the footage. Police have registered a case and deployed cyber forensic teams to trace the source of the leak, with further actions anticipated as the investigation progresses.
