With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on the horizon, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, is stepping up its preparations for a structured entry into the electoral arena. The party is scheduled to unveil its election manifesto on February 27, with organizational groundwork already in progress.
Party sources have revealed that the leadership is actively identifying candidates for all 234 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu. Initial efforts have led to the shortlisting of three potential candidates for each constituency, with a significant focus on district secretaries, highlighting the party’s commitment to grassroots organizers and local strength.
A strategic approach blending organizational loyalty with administrative expertise is evident in the selection process, as key state functionaries and district-level leaders feature prominently in the candidate shortlist. Noteworthy speculation surrounds high-profile constituencies, including Villivakkam, Kolathur, and Tenkasi, where individuals with diverse backgrounds are being considered for candidacy.
The spotlight remains on Vijay’s potential constituency, Vedaranyam in Nagapattinam district, where sources suggest he may contest. Vedaranyam, currently held by an AIADMK representative, is viewed as a politically competitive seat, with a significant voter base comprising fishermen and farmers. Internal surveys indicate strong support for Vijay in the constituency, fueling anticipation of an official announcement regarding his candidacy.
As TVK gears up to release its manifesto and finalize candidate selections, the party aims to make a significant impact in its inaugural full-scale Assembly battle.
