England striker Tammy Abraham has rejoined Aston Villa from Besiktas, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Premier League contenders. The 28-year-old, who had been on loan at Besiktas, is back in English football after his stint with Roma in 2021. Villa is set to pay Besiktas 21 million euros for his transfer after the Turkish club activated their 11 million pounds purchase option.
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, in need of additional striking options to support Ollie Watkins, has long been interested in Abraham. The forward, who played a crucial role in Villa’s promotion from the Championship in the 2018-19 season, expressed his gratitude towards the club. Abraham stated, “Some clubs play a big part in your journey and stay with you. I’m back at Aston Villa, ready to work and give everything.”
During his previous loan spell at Villa, Abraham scored 26 goals in 40 appearances, aiding the team’s promotion to the Premier League. His notable achievements include netting 25 league goals and scoring a decisive penalty in the Play-Off Final at Wembley. Abraham’s return marks a significant reunion with a club where he made a lasting impact.
