In a disturbing incident of molestation and sexual harassment at a tech company in Nashik, Maharashtra, the city police have apprehended the Human Resource (HR) official. The official, identified as Ashwini Ashok Chainani, was arrested from Pune’s Loola Nagar after it was found that complaints from victims were ignored.
A case has been filed under Crime Registration Number 163/2026, citing various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. The police are questioning Chainani about the alleged mistreatment of female employees at the corporate office and his failure to address their complaints.
The uncovering of this harassment case has shocked both the police and the district administration. Following reports of sexual harassment and forced conversions, the police have arrested six individuals, with Chainani being the seventh. Nine FIRs have been lodged at different police stations, and six arrests have been made so far.
The victims reported enduring sexual harassment, threats, bullying, and religious insults for several years. To address these serious allegations, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by the state administration. The victims, mostly aged 18-25 and from impoverished backgrounds, were allegedly exploited and harassed with impunity.
Some victims had filed complaints under the POSH Act with the company’s HR, but no action was taken. The HR official was arrested for allegedly concealing the ongoing harassment and disregarding the victims’ complaints.
