Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy revealed the state’s ambition to establish itself as the textile hub of South Asia by 2047. He assured textile sector investors of government support in terms of infrastructure, land, power, water, and incentives, promising swift approvals. Speaking at the Asian Textile Conference 2026, Reddy emphasized the goal of seeing Telangana-made garments worn worldwide.
Reddy highlighted that Telangana’s policies are aligned with global standards and emphasized the state’s human resources as a key strength. He encouraged partnerships to build a comprehensive textiles ecosystem capable of global impact. Telangana’s collaborations span from cotton fields within the state to major fashion destinations like London, New York, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, and Dubai.
The Chief Minister noted Hyderabad’s emergence as a significant film production hub, attracting attention from Tollywood, Bollywood, and now Hollywood with Netflix launching Eyeline Studios in the city. Reddy expressed plans to encourage the film industry to source fashion needs directly from Telangana. Additionally, he emphasized the government’s commitment to environmental protection by developing green textile hubs and providing training, especially to women, in design, cutting, and stitching.
Reddy underscored India’s rich history in textile craftsmanship and Telangana’s diverse textile traditions, including Pochampally Ikat, Gadwal sarees, Warangal Durries, and Narayanpet handlooms. With Telangana leading in cotton production in India and the establishment of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, Reddy highlighted the state’s potential and resolve in the textile sector. Telangana’s broader vision includes becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2034 and a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047.
